Panel Discussion: Security


Michael Bennett is the Associate Director Engineering Services and Information Security Officer with ITS at Dalhousie University. Working with a team of professionals to deliver data center and network services, new project integration and oversight for information security.

Dele Ogundele is currently the IT Security Specialist at Saint Mary’s University, Halifax, NS.  Prior to that, he worked as an Information Security Consultant for a financial institution. He is a member of various professional organizations including International Information System Security Certification Consortium (ISC)² and Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). He is a graduate of Concordia University College of Alberta (now Concordia University of Edmonton in Alberta), where he completed his master’s degree in Information Systems Security Management. He also holds other degrees from Blekinge Institute of Technology, Karlskrona, Sweden. Dele has been a CISSP since 2014 and possesses other IT certifications.

Dan Parr is relatively new to the Higher Ed Space, Dan brings with him almost 20 years in the IT industry.  Much of his experience is Hands on Technical in nature and centered around Network Security, Infrastructure, and Enterprise Application Administration in the private sector.

Benjamin Steeves is a 15 year veteran of the higher education IT world. Over the span of his career he has been a developer, systems engineer, security analyst, business analyst; project, product and people manager. Currently, as Director of IT Architecture at UNB, his focus is on enterprise architecture and information security. Ben has been part of the IT security leadership team at UNB since it's inception, helping to lead the development of UNB's security architecture and is involved in management of day-to-day security incidents. He is also a founding partner in Beauceron Security, a Fredericton based cybersecurity company specializing in the management of information security awareness.
